What is Now?
Now is a fun and simple mobile app that answers the question realtime, "Where are you?" No waiting, no texting back and forth, no need for phone calls. See where your friends and family are right now on a map. Best of all, Now is completely free.
How do I get started?
It's simple. Click "Sign up." For your security, Now verifies your phone number with an automated SMS, and you're in. Review your name and email, add a photo, and you're done. (Photo is not required, but your friends and family will appreciate it when they view you on their app)
What if I want to hide myself at certain times?
Tap "Hide Yourself" in Settings and you're hidden from everyone until you tap "Show Yourself." You're in control.
Why is my location not always accurate down to street level?
It's a combination of keeping the app battery-friendly and adding a buffer of privacy. We always provide a radius of accuracy around anyone you view. In our tests, we've found Now members to be happy with this level of detail.
How do I center on myself in the map?
Tap the map icon on the bottom. Or, tap on your name in Friends.
How do I update where I am?
Open Now. Make sure you are logged in. Depending upon the strength of your network connection, Now will automatically update where you are for you and your friends.
What happens if I invite a Now member?
Once they receive your invite, they can see you on their map. When they accept your invite, you can see them.
What happens if I invite someone who does not have Now?
As long as you invite them from within the app, once they install Now on their iPhone, they will be able to see you. When they accept your invite, you can see them.
Can I cancel my pending invites?
Of course. Tap "Edit," then "Cancel," and poof, they're gone. They can't see you and you can't see them.
If someone invited me, can I remove them?
Tap "Edit," and "Remove," and they're a fond memory. They can't see you and you can't see them.
Are phone calls or texts free when using Now?
The call and text functionality is there for your ease-of-use. Your standard mobile carrier charges apply.
Can I update my profile picture?
Got a new haircut?... let your friends see it. Go to Settings and tap on your photo.
Why do friends sometimes show as "Currently Unavailable?"
They have either chosen to hide themselves or Now has not received any updates from their phone for more than 2 days.
